Many manufacturers will affix them directly to the chassis of the system. Contact HP - and find out where they place them for your model. I have a laptop from them, from years prior; they affixed my label under the battery, if I recall.
Some manufacturers leave them in the bundle that the OS media comes in. However, if the label is lost, you may be stuck having to buy a new one. In the meantime, if you need an OS to install - MS offers trials: These are higher edition versions than you are probably using, I figure you should be able to change editions by applying a valid product key - but can't recall if that's 100% the case. Black Friday is around the corner check NewEgg/Frys, etc. For deals, I'm sure something will spring up.
They stopped that with Windows 8 btw. All you get now is a sticker with a Windows 8+ logo on it but no key. Key is burned into the firmware. The exception to this is your local PC shop or custom builder that buys OEM Windows from a distributor, those still come with a key on a sticker. Source: Am a local PC shop. Every HP/Dell/Lenovo/Acer/etc we get in to repair has a little sticker he size of a case badge somewhere on it that only tells you it's Windows 8/10, nothing else.

Doesn't even say home or pro. Kind of a pain in the ass. However if I build a PC I order a packaged DVD or thumb drive that has the traditional OEM license sticker with a key on it.
